Starhub to launch LTE services on 19 September
September 14, 2012

Singapore's telecom operator Starhub announced on 11 September that the company is going to provide LTE (Long Term Evolution) services on 19 September, 2012, according to a report by the ZDNet. Should the official launch of the LTE network go as planned, Starhub will become the third operator to roll out LTE services in Singapore, after SingTel and M1. The wireless broadband network is expected to offer a download speed of up to 75Mbps, with the initial coverage including Singapore’s Central Business District, Changi Airport, and Singapore Expo. Starhub plans to expand its LTE service coverage to more than 50% of the Singapore land area by the fourth quarter of 2012 and reach 100% service coverage by 2013, according to the same source. Reflecting this, Starhub plans to launch four new subscription plans under the name SmartSurf for Smartphones, with the monthly subscription fee ranging from US$38 to US$205.
